Find your brow starting point.
Compare microblading, PMU eyebrow tattooing and brow thread-and-tint before choosing your Sandycroft appointment.
Microblading is a type of eyebrow tattoo
“Microblading vs eyebrow tattoo” can be confusing: microblading is itself cosmetic tattooing. It uses a manual tool for pigment strokes. PMU means permanent makeup, a broader category of pigment treatments. Ask which method is being proposed rather than deciding from the name alone.
| Option | What it does | What to discuss |
|---|---|---|
| Microblading | Creates fine pigment strokes with a manual tool. | Skin suitability, existing pigment, stroke appearance and retention. |
| PMU brows | Adds cosmetic tattoo pigment for brow shape and definition. | The exact technique, desired density, colour and healed finish. |
| Thread & tint | Shapes existing hairs and adds temporary colour to them. | Your natural hair, preferred shade, sensitivities and patch testing. |
Your skin and existing brows matter
A technique that suits a friend may not suit your skin or previous work. Tell the clinic about old microblading or brow tattoos before booking. Existing pigment may need assessment, and correction or cover-up is not automatically possible.
Shape planning and healed colour
Bring examples of your usual makeup if you want help explaining the finish. Discuss mapping, shade and how fresh pigment may differ from the healed result. Strong initial colour is not a reliable prediction of final retention.
Think about the full cost
Compare the initial appointment with any separately priced top-up. Ask how review timing and later maintenance are decided. Threading and tinting have a different maintenance pattern because hair regrows and tint fades.
