Separate before you add another coat

When mascara starts to clump, an extra layer often makes it heavier. A clean lash comb can be a better next move for natural lashes that have no extensions.

Think of mascara as a finishing touch, not a building project. A light first coat lets you see where definition is needed before adding more product. Use a clean tool intended for lashes and keep it away from the eye itself.

This trick is for untreated natural lashes without extensions. If you wear LK lash extensions or have recently had a lash lift, follow your own treatment aftercare instead of adapting a mascara routine.

Try it

  1. Apply a thin first coat to untreated natural lashes.
  2. Separate gently with a clean tool before the mascara fully sets.
  3. Stop when the lashes look defined rather than endlessly adding layers.

The little takeaway

Pause between coats: a little separation can finish the look without another layer.

Makeup tips apply to healthy, healed skin and natural lashes unless stated otherwise. For recently treated areas, follow your practitioner’s individual aftercare instructions.
